Santa Cruz Esthetician Branding Session | Sunstone and Sage Esthetics

Ilima is in the very beginning stages of building Sunstone and Sage Esthetics here in Santa Cruz, and this session was all about capturing that early foundation—where vision, intention, and identity are still taking shape but already feel very real. She reached out after responding to one of my Instagram stories about collaborations, and it turned out we had actually met a few days earlier at Dr. Reuter’s office without realizing we were already connected online. It made the whole session feel like one of those small Santa Cruz full-circle moments. For her branding session, we focused on creating imagery that felt clean, grounded, and aligned with the direction she is growing into. As an esthetician just starting her career, having strong visual branding is such a key part of building trust and clarity with future clients. We wanted the photos to reflect both professionalism and approachability—soft, natural, and intentional without feeling overly staged. What I loved most about this session was the in-between energy of it. Not fully established yet, but very clearly on her way. That space is often where the most honest branding imagery lives—when someone is still forming their business but already embodying the essence of it. Ilima carried such a calm, steady presence throughout the shoot, which made it easy to keep everything simple and natural. Instead of over-directing, we let the energy of her brand lead the way. Sunstone and Sage Esthetics already feels rooted in care, wellness, and intention, and it will be really exciting to see how it continues to grow within the Santa Cruz community.
